Don’t let it be
We’ve done it too many times
Don’t let it be
now or tomorrow.
The wind will go through your hair
to reach my eyes.
Don’t let it be that way
like now
that you look at me and
you don’t recognize my face
nor my words
they console you.
Don’t let it be, now that
the intense cold takes away kindness and forgiveness
Don’t let it be
not now.
Hold on to your usual things,
the job, friends and
the memory of lost love,
like all loves
who live
of a deformed memory,
Don’t let it be
